The City of Nampa and Nampa Parks Department invites the public to the annual Arbor Day celebration April 25, 2019. Gem Prep 5th graders will assist with this year’s festivities beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Nampa Recreation Center, located at 131 Constitution Way, and is estimated to be concluded by 1 p.m.
Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling will read the Arbor Day proclamation followed by students learning how to properly plant trees. This is an opportunity for the public to learn the basic skills of tree planting along with the importance of urban forestry.
For the 21st consecutive year, Nampa will receive the Tree City USA award at the State Arbor Day Celebration Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise. Nampa has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA: a tree board and department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and holding an Arbor Day observance.
