The city of Nampa is pleased to announce the 2nd and 3rd Streets South Rebuild Project is predominately complete. The contractor is currently working on cleaning up the project site as well as installing irrigation to planters. Crews will also need to reconstruct the corner of 2nd Street South & 16th Avenue South and address drainage issues at 3rd Street South & Wall Street, which will occur in the next week.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this rebuild project. I want to extend a special thank you to the downtown businesses for their cooperation as well as the contractors and project staff who have worked tirelessly to deliver a quality product.” shared Deputy Public Works Director for Streets Jeff Barnes.
The project rebuilt 2nd Street South and 3rd Street South from 12th Avenue South to 16th Avenue South. Improvements included replacement of underground utilities, new asphalt pavement, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pedestrian ramps, decorative lighting, brick sidewalks, benches, and planters to meet Downtown Historic Streetscape standards. The overall effect provides a safer and more attractive experience for customers and visitors to Downtown Nampa.
During construction, the city provided two hours of free parking to downtown customers at the Stampede Lot at 1218 2nd St. S. As of today, Monday, Sept. 24, the lot will return to leased parking only. Customers can continue to park free for one hour in the Downtown Garage adjacent to the Nampa Library.
The contractor for the $2.9 million project was Idaho Materials and Construction of Nampa.
