Rick Hogaboam

Rick Hogaboam was elected to seat 3 of the Nampa City Council in 2017. He is married to Mimi Hogaboam. They have 5 children and also sponsor a child through Compassion International. Rick’s grandfather, Norman, served in WWII in the 10th Armored Division; his father, Tom, a resident of Nampa, served in Vietnam; his mother, Michong, was born in South Korea and later became a U.S. citizen. 

Rick has served as pastor of Sovereign Grace Fellowship (formerly Church of the Open Door) since 2008 and as Executive Director of Lifeline Pregnancy Care Center since 2014. Prior to assuming the directorship of Lifeline, Rick served on the board for Lifeline. In addition to pastoral ministry, Rick has been employed as a middle/high school teacher, varsity baseball coach, UPS truckloader, and Toyota fleet employee. His earliest work started as a child sweeping hair in his mother’s hair salon. 

Hogaboam attended Central Christian College on a baseball/academic scholarship before transferring to and graduating from The King’s University. He also possesses a graduate degree and various certificates, including Writing from The University of Texas, Non-profit Management from The University of the Pacific, and Leadership from Cornell University. 

Rick is also a graduate of the Nampa Chamber’s Leadership Nampa program (2019). 

Rick’s writing has been featured by The FatherlyThe Policy, and more. A member of Strong Towns, Rick is particularly interested in economic development and sustainability. He’s a past fellow at Acton University and is also certified through the National Fatherhood Initiative. You can usually find Rick frequenting one of Nampa’s local restaurants, coffee houses, parks, businesses, the library, the recreation center, or a NNU sporting event.
