| Road Construction Update - (Nampa, May 7, 2010) – The following is a road construction update for projects within the City of Nampa.
11th Avenue North Overpass between Birch Lane and Garrity/Franklin Boulevard will be closed to through traffic starting Tuesday, May 11, while Idaho Transportation Department crews begin to remove the bridge to be replaced. Drivers should use N. Franklin Blvd. or Garrity Blvd. as a detour. Estimated completion: September 29.
11th Avenue North between I-84 and Garrity Boulevard continues to have delays while crews rehabilitate the sewer main on the east side of the road. Traffic will be shifted around the work zone and at times flaggers will direct traffic during this project. Drivers should plan on extra time if traveling through this area. Estimated completion: June 24.
Intersection of Happy Valley Road & Greenhurst Road remains closed to through traffic while crews install a new round-a-bout at the intersection. Crews will be grading the road base, installing brick pavers, installing sign bases in the island and working on seepage beds. Drivers should give themselves extra time in this area and pay close attention to the detour signs. Signs directing drivers to local businesses should also be noted. Estimated completion: June 30.
12th Avenue South between Front Street and 1st Street South will be closed to through traffic every Saturday from 6:30am to 1:00pm starting April 24 through October 30 for the Nampa Farmer’s Market.
I-84 and Garrity Boulevard Idaho Transportation Department project: Expect detours and lane restriction near the I-84 Garrity Interchange overnight Sunday (May 9) Garrity Boulevard will be closed overnight Sunday (May 9) at the I-84 Garrity Interchange while the Idaho Transportation Department places new bridge girders over Garrity Boulevard. Access to I-84 on- and off- ramps will remain open during the overnight closure (10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday). However, vehicles will not be able to travel beneath the I-84 Garrity Interchange Bridge. Motorists planning to use Garrity Boulevard are encouraged to use Stamm Lane, Robinson Road, and Franklin Road as alternate routes.
Click here for a map of the detour route. For more information on this project please go to itd.idaho.gov/projects/d3.
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) advises motorists to expect Garrity Boulevard to be reduced to one lane in each direction at night starting Monday (May 10) near the I-84 Garrity Interchange while crews work on the bridge deck. The lanes will be restricted overnight between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Two lanes southbound and one lane northbound will be open by the morning commute and during the day. Overnight restrictions are not expected to occur on Friday or Saturday nights. Lane restrictions are expected to continue for the next few weeks until the bridge work is completed.
**Note: This new overnight Garrity Boulevard configuration will be in effect when the Nickelback and Eagles concerts are getting out. In order to help get concert goers to the freeway, ITD will be flagging the intersections at the interchange and will open both lanes up to southbound traffic (using flaggers) if needed. Nampa Police will be increasing their patrols in the construction zones between Franklin and Garrity due to a grant from the Office of Highway Safety. ***
