Traffic Plan for God and Country Rally -
(Nampa, June 23, 2010) The God and Country Rally coming up June 30, 2010 is the biggest event held in Nampa, with more than 10,000 people usually attending the event and thousands more watching the fireworks from outside the event.

There are special traffic challenges this year with construction taking place to improve the Garrity/Idaho Center Boulevard interchange. The Nampa Police Department with support from the Idaho State Police and Idaho Transportation Department have an extensive plan in place to get the traffic from the Idaho Center out of the parking lot and on the way home as quickly as possible.

Just before the fireworks presentation starts (approximately 10:15pm); the westbound exit ramp for the Idaho Center will be shut down. This will accomplish two things: it will prevent the traffic signal at the interchange from holding up traffic leaving the Idaho Center, and it will ease the amount of northbound traffic on Idaho Center Boulevard.

Westbound traffic will be limited to the inside lane between the offramp and the onramp to allow a clear path for traffic leaving the Idaho Center needing to go westbound on I-84.

Eastbound traffic on I-84 will also be limited to the inside lane between the offramp and the onramp to allow a clear path for traffic leaving the Idaho Center needing to go eastbound on I-84.

When fireworks start, no northbound traffic will be allowed through the underpass at I-84. Eastbound I-84 traffic using the exit ramp at Garrity/Idaho Center Boulevard will only be able to turn right (south bound) onto Garrity. Traffic coming from the Nampa Gateway Center will have two options, either to go southbound on Happy Valley, or turn north on Garrity to access the I-84 onramp to Boise.

Police officers will be flagging traffic coming out of the Idaho Center, and there will be officers flagging traffic at E. Franklin Road and Star Road, Star Road and Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane and 11th Avenue North, and 11th Avenue North and Ridgecrest Drive.

(Nampa, June 23, 2010) An online survey is now available for businesses and the general public to give their opinions on various types of signs. The City of Nampa is in the process of updating the City’s Sign Ordinance and hopes to hear comments and suggestions from the public. The goal is to find areas in which the sign code can be improved upon, and to learn about community needs that may not be addressed in the current sign code.

To access the online surveys go to http://cityofnampa.us, use the mouse to point to Economic Development, then to Community Development, click on Code Compliance in the drop down menu, and scroll down to the bottom of the page under Links. There is one link for business owners and a second link for the general public. If preferred, a longer survey with pictures may be downloaded off the website at http://cityofnampa.us/pages/View_File.php?id=2631 and faxed, mailed or returned to city hall.
The Sign Ordinance is a regulatory tool that helps to control the character of the City of Nampa. It is intended to balance the public interest by promoting a safe, well-maintained and attractive City with the interests of our community by ensuring their ability to identify the businesses, organizations, and individuals.
