Tom Dale was elected Mayor of Nampa on December 6, 2001 and took office in January, 2002. Before becoming Mayor, he served for six years on the Nampa City Council.
Mayor Dale has been a lifelong musician, motivational speaker, and educator. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Northwest Nazarene University, located in Nampa, and a Master's Degree from the University of North Texas. His last assignment before becoming Mayor was director of music at Nampa Christian High School. During the six years Mayor Dale taught at NCHS, the program grew from 40 students to over 120.
Mayor Dale is a member of the board of the Association of Idaho Cities and has served in that capacity since 1996. Activities with A.I.C. include serving on the Policies and Procedures Committee and the Legislative Committee. Tom will serve as President of AIC for 2009-2010.
He is a board member of the regional transportation organizations - ValleyRide and COMPASS, and has served as chairman of the board for both organizations. As an active member of these organizations, Mayor Dale is helping shape the future growth and transportation in the greater Treasure Valley, while working to preserve Nampa’s quality of life.
Philosophy of Government:
"I believe in this era of 'Big Government', special interest groups, and PACs, the place in America where democracy works best is on the local level. It is at this level where average citizens can make their voices heard."
Hobbies:
Private pilot, fishing, skiing, golf, dirt and mountain biking, Idaho High School football and basketball referee. Tom also plays trombone with the swing band High Street.
