REVISED DEVELOPMENT IMPACT FEE ORDINACE
In order to implement an equitable Development Impact Fee system for the City Capital Facilities, and to re-evaluate our current methodology of calculating impact fees, the City retained an Impact Fee Consulting Firm to prepare an Impact Fee Study.
EROSION PERMITS NOW REQUIRED FOR PLUMBING OR ELECTRICAL UNDERGROUND INSTALLATIONS
Attention plumbing and electrical contractors: in March 2005, the City of Nampa adopted an Erosion and Sediment Control/Grading ordinance to prohibit the discharge of sediments and pollutants from construction and land distrubing activities to Nampa's public waterways and storm drainage system. This ordinance is in compliance with an Environmental Protection Agency mandate. The ordinance requires that an approved Erosion and Sediment Control permit must be issued for excavation projects where two or more cubic yards of soil are to be disturbed.
NEW SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL HEAT LOSS CALCULATIONS AND DUCT SIZING
The City of Nampa Building Department will start enforcing the requirements for submittal of Heat Loss Calculations (Manual J) and Duct Sizing (Manual D) as required by the International Codes effective January 1, 2009. However, there will be a 90-day grace period for submittals to help assist applicants with learning the requirements and what all is needed for a complete submittal.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELEASES UPGRADE TO ONLINE PERMITTING SYSTEM
The Nampa Building department has released an update to our Online Building Permit system for local contractors. Contractors and home owners can now submit residential plans online for review and approval electronically. It also allows contractors to go on line to request an inspection for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits. Contractors also have the ability to check the status of those inspections online and see the inspection results as soon as it is completed. The updated system improves everything from the appearance to the timeliness of the information available to its users.
"We're extremely pleased to offer the improved functionality and capabilities of this system to our customers." said Director of Building Safety for the City of Nampa, Dennis Davis. "This is the culmination of a year-long effort between the Building department, the Information Systems department, and most importantly, our customers, the contractors who do business in Nampa."
The new updated system application is available to any contractor that signs up online at www.cityofnampa.us/eservices and pays an annual $35 electronic permitting convenience fee.

Mission Nampa’s Building Safety Department is charged with the enforcement of building safety standards as adopted by the Nampa City Council and the State of Idaho. Our commitment focuses on the fair and consistent application of these adopted standards, with an emphasis on the protection of Nampa’s citizens from the perils of occupying unsafe, unhealthful or substandard buildings. The building inspection services we provide are driven by the unwritten contract between our Department and those benefactors who occupy the built environment within our diverse community. This contract insures the buildings in which Nampa’s citizens live, work, worship and recreate meet minimum life safety, structural and energy conservation standards. The success of our inspection program is rooted in an understanding of the codes we enforce, and the reasons those standards exist. Public safety is our charge, but we never lose sight of customer service and the goal of creating a cooperative and friendly environment for those utilizing our services.
