The American Public Works Association has designated May 21 to 27 as National Public Works Week. The city of Nampa will join the celebration with an interactive fair for Centennial Elementary fourth grade students on Thursday, May 25.
Fair displays include educational demonstrations on how traffic signals work, internal components of fire hydrants, sewer pipe maintenance, and the water cycle. Students will also explore construction equipment and other unique vehicles in the city fleet.
The fair will be held at the streets yard, 106 W. Railroad St., from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
National Public Works Week is observed each year during the third full week of May to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works in their daily lives. To learn more about Nampa’s Public Works Department visit www.cityofnampa.us/publicworks.
