Nampa Bike & Walk Week activities planned

Bike and Walk Week Poster

Nampans are invited to celebrate national Bike & Walk Week activities with members of the Bike Walk Nampa group to promote a bicycle and pedestrian friendly community.

Several activities are planned for the week, starting Tuesday with an education workshop and wrapping up Saturday with participating in the annual Parade of America.

According to Bike Walk Nampa, 40 percent of our daily vehicle trips are less than 2 miles from home and most people can walk a mile in 15-20 minutes or travel by bicycle in 6-10 minutes.

Bike & Walk Week is designed to raise awareness and encourage Nampa residents to leave your car at home and walk or bicycle to work at least one day next week.

Among the activities planned is a ribbon cutting to celebrate recently completed safety improvements on Greenhurst Road at the Stoddard pathway crossing. The $285,000 safety project included the installation of a rapid flashing beacon, pavement markings, signage, parking lot improvements and ADA ramps.
