Seven local students earn $2,000 scholarships from annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament

Scholarship winners with Golf Commission

The Nampa Golf Commission awarded $14,000 in scholarships to seven college-bound students thanks to several local sponsors, 31 participating and 33 hole sponsors for the annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament. The event raises money for Summer Youth Golf programs in Nampa, Mayor’s Teen Council and provides scholarships to high school senior golf students.

The following high school seniors received $2,000 scholarships:

  • Bradley Bonds, Columbia, plans to attend University of Idaho, study accounting and he plans to try out for the golf team.
  • Aubrie Brown, Skyview, plans to attend College of Western Idaho. She wants to be a dental hygienist.
  • Colby Dillon, Columbia, plans to attend College of Western Idaho to pursue a degree in mechatronics.
  • Elisa Knudsen, Nampa Christian, plans to attend College of Western Idaho and study accounting.
  • Logan Swanson, Nampa Christian, is looking at several colleges where he could join the golf team. He plans to pursue a degree in supply chain management.
  • Morgan Boyd, Liberty Charter, plans to attend Boise State University and study business.
  • Ragan McGilvery, Columbia, plans to attend Northwest Nazarene University, play on the golf team and study graphic design and engineering.

Major tournament sponsors were: Texas Roadhouse, CapEd Credit Union, Republic Services, Saint Alphonsus, Tom Scott Toyota and Ford Idaho Center.

The Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament has raised over $128,500 for scholarships and youth golf programs during the 15 years it has been held.
