City of Nampa begins to plow residential areas and prepares for potential flooding

The city of Nampa has plowed arterials, collectors and secondary roadways and is now focused on residential streets. Crews will continue to address subdivisions and residential areas Saturday unless another snow event occurs.

While addressing Wednesday’s record snowfall remains the top priority, the city of Nampa is paying close attention to flood risks. Based on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA data and snow water content, widespread flooding is not likely. Still, preventative crews are being called in and dispatched throughout the weekend to assure that critical storm drain lines and catch basins are open. Personnel representing key response agencies were also notified and are on call if the need arises.

The public, especially people in low lying areas, should monitor local news media, City of Nampa’s Facebook page and Nextdoor for updates.
