Mayor Henry announces finalists for City Council appointment

Nampa Mayor Bob Henry named six finalists he plans to interview as part of the process to select a new City Council member.

Henry said it was very difficult to choose six finalists because many of the 26 applicants offered impressive credentials. Henry said he looked for people he believes will best serve all of Nampa’s residents. Although he did not appoint a committee to assist in the selection process, Henry sought feedback from current City Council members.

In alphabetical order the finalists are: Laura Alvarez Schrag, Kelly Gibbons, Robin Moffitt, Victor Rodriguez, Tom Turner and Kenny Wroten.

“Once the interviews are done, I will evaluate the strong points of each person and carefully consider who would best round out the six-person City Council,” Henry said. “I already know that will be a difficult decision, because we have such qualified individuals who want to serve their community.”

Henry said he will conduct interviews with the finalists Friday and early next week.

The mayor said he hopes to take a recommendation to City Council for a vote on Dec. 19.  The new council member would be sworn in at the Jan. 3 City Council meeting.
