6th Street North reconstruction project finishes ahead of schedule

The city of Nampa will reopen 6th Street North the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 4, ahead of the anticipated completion schedule of late November/early December.

Roadway paving is complete and the contractor is finalizing “finish work” throughout the project area including:

  • Concrete work along the roadway including pedestrian ramps in some locations
  • Landscape and sprinkler restoration
  • Pavement markings for “Shared Use” travel lanes
  • Crosswalk markings at 16th Ave. North and 6th St. North intersection
  • Project signage

“Our residents and the traveling public have been living with detours and construction since June, so we’re very pleased to open the roadway early. The city really appreciates how patient the public has been as we improved the roadway and utilities in the area” said Jeff Barnes, city staff engineer and project manager.

The project was constructed in phases beginning June 13. The project replaced the waterline and reconstructed the full roadway from 1st Avenue North to 4th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North to 16th Avenue North. Half of the roadway was reconstructed from 4th Avenue North to 9th Avenue North because the waterline in the area was replaced in 2014.

Nampa Paving and Asphalt was the contractor.
