Mayor Henry seeks applications for vacant City Council seat

Nampa Mayor Bob Henry is accepting applications for the vacant seat on the Nampa City Council now that Pam White has been elected to the Canyon County Board of Commissioners.

“I want to congratulate Pam White on her election,” Henry said. “I think she will be a great asset on the county commission and do what she believes is best for the county. I also appreciate her service as a City Council member.”

Applications must be submitted by noon Monday, Nov. 28, and names will be released to the media. Henry said he hopes to make a decision by mid-December.

Applications should include the following: 

    1. Why you want to serve on Nampa City Council
    2. Personal and professional experience that makes you the right candidate
    3. List of three things you love about Nampa
    4. List of three things you wish you could change in Nampa

“There’s no magic formula for whom would be the best candidate,” Henry said. “I’m looking for applicants who are open minded and interested in serving his or her community.”

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the city of Nampa, a registered voter and lived in Nampa for at least 30 days. City council positions are nonpartisan. 

Applications must be submitted via email to: or may be mailed to Mayor Henry, Nampa City Hall, 411 3rd St. S., Nampa, ID 83651, and must be received by noon Monday, Nov. 28.

$420.41 biweekly ($10,930.66 annually)
PERSI (Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho) 

Time commitment:
  • Attend at least two city council meetings per month on 1st and 3rd Monday nights, plus occasional special council meetings.  Meetings usually run 2-3 hours.
  • Serve on NDC board, meets Wednesday once a month for about an hour, although this will change mid-year, but not exactly sure how yet
  • 3 days of budget workshops in June
  • Time to read and prepare for council meetings
  • Attend city meetings because council members also serve as members/liaisons on other boards/commissions
  • Make other volunteer public appearances
