The city of Nampa will finish construction of Phase 1 of the 6th Street North Project and have the roadway fully reopened between 11th Avenue North and 16th Avenue North by Monday, Aug. 29.
The contractor will pave the roadway between 11th Avenue North and 13th Avenue North on Friday, Aug. 19. Paving between 13th Avenue North and 16th Avenue North will be completed the week of Aug. 22. Other activities required to complete Phase 1 include:
• Concrete work along the roadway including pedestrian ramps and sidewalks• Gravel placement, grading and compacting prior to paving• Landscape restoration• Pavement markings and striping installation
In reopening this portion of the roadway, the city is meeting its commitment to the Idaho Arts Charter School to have the road ready before the 2016-2017 school year begins.
“We are very pleased with how smoothly Phase 1 went and want to thank local residents for their patience and the contractor, Nampa Paving and Asphalt Company, for working hard to meet the schedule” said Jeff Barnes, city’s staff engineer and project manager.
The city is constructing the project in phases and is doing its best to minimize inconvenience to the public as it improves aging infrastructure and reconstructs the roadway, Barnes said.
