The city of Nampa will close 11th Avenue North between 5th Street North and Franklin Boulevard on Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to install new waterline and traffic signal conduit. Traffic will be detoured to 10th Avenue North during the closure. The detour will be clearly marked with signage.
The closure is part of the project to rebuild 6th Street North from 1st Avenue North to 16th Avenue North. The $2 million dollar construction project will improve the roadway and utilities in the area and is being completed in phases to minimize impacts to the public.
The city is constructing the project in phases and is doing its best to minimize inconvenience to the public as it improves aging infrastructure and reconstructs the roadway. Phase 1 started June 13. Phases include:
• Phase 1 11th Avenue North to 16th Avenue North June - August
• Phase 2A Alleyway between 9th Avenue North and 10th Avenue North to 11th Avenue North October
• Phase 2B 7th Avenue North to alleyway between 9th Avenue North and 10th Avenue North November - December
• Phase 3A 5th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North September
• Phase 3B 1st Avenue North to 5th Avenue North August - September
The city is allowing the contractor to work on a maximum of two phases at the same time. There will be a three-week period starting at the end of July when phases 1 and 3B are completely closed. The public will be reminded of the closure before it goes into effect.
During the rest of the project the contractor can only completely close the roadway on one phase at a time. Detours will be put into place and two-way traffic will be maintained on streets adjacent to any full closures. Access to local businesses, residents and churches will be maintained.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2016.
