The Nampa Golf Commission and Mayor Henry awarded $12,500 in scholarships to five college-bound students thanks to the 28 golf teams that participated in the annual Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament Friday and the 28 businesses and organizations sponsoring holes. This event raises money for Summer Youth Golf programs in Nampa, Mayor’s Teen Council and provides scholarships to high school senior golf students.
The following high school seniors received $2,500 scholarships: • Jacob Carson, Columbia High School, plans to attend Boise State University. • Mallory DeFord, Skyview High School, plans to attend Brigham Young University. • Casey Klauser, Nampa Christian High School, plans to attend University of Idaho. • Parker Johnson, Nampa Christian High School, plans to attend Idaho State University. • Taylor Fouts, Nampa Christian High School, plans to attend Northwest Nazarene University.
Major tournament sponsors were: Texas Roadhouse, CapEd Credit Union, Republic Services, Saint Alphonsus, Del Taco, Mountain West Bank and Primary Health Medical Group. There were 28 hole sponsors.
The Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament has raised over $114,500 for scholarships and youth golf programs during the 14 years it has been held.
