Public invited to discuss safety improvements on 12th Ave. between 7th St. and Nampa High School

Nampa citizens are invited to a public meeting on Wednesday, April 13, to provide input on needed improvements to 12th Avenue South between 7th Street South and Nampa High School. The drop-in meeting will run from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Cafeteria of Nampa High School.

The city of Nampa and the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) are studying 12th Avenue South between 7th Street and Nampa High School to identify needed improvements to safety and access on-and-off the roadway. This segment of 12th Avenue is a high accident corridor.

“In recent years, we have seen the number of vehicles and accidents increase by 10 percent,” said Clair Bowman, Nampa senior transportation planner. “These accidents are primarily from drivers entering and exiting the roadway. Because 12th Avenue is a state highway, the city and ITD are working together to begin addressing the safety concerns.”

At the public meeting you will be able to identify what is working well, what is not working well and other issues or concerns you might have with this segment of 12th Avenue.

Written comments about safety improvements can be submitted to Nampa Senior Transportation Planner Clair Bowman at 411 3rd St. S., Nampa, ID 83651 or bowmanc@cityofnampa.us.
