Improvements to Amity Avenue on schedule to be complete by early summer

Construction on Amity Avenue in east Nampa is expected to wrap up in a few months. Since early 2015, crews have been rebuilding and widening the roadway from Chestnut Street to Southside Boulevard.

“The roadway improvements are on schedule to be complete early this summer,” said Clair Bowman, Nampa’s senior transportation planner. “Given the residential character of the project area, we understand construction has impacted routine travel for many Nampa community members. The city appreciates and thanks everyone for your patience.”

In mid-March, crews will pour concrete for curb and gutter on Amity Avenue between Chicago Street and Southside Boulevard. This section of Amity Avenue is the last segment of roadway left to be rebuilt. The schedule for this work is weather dependent.

The traffic signal at Powerline Road is fully operational, and the signal at Chicago Street is currently operating as a flashing-red four-way stop. The Chicago signal and the new pedestrian crossing signal at Murray Street are expected to be in full operation later this spring.

City officials remind drivers that Amity Avenue is closed to all through traffic between Chicago Street and Southside Boulevard. Access is being maintained for residents who live in the work zone.

Details and detour maps are available on the project website at www.cityofnampa.us/amity. To sign up for construction updates, send your email address to nelsonk@cityofnampa.us.
