The Nampa Public Library invites the community to celebrate its first birthday in the new building by unveiling its new mascot, Ollie. The Big Birthday Bash will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, March 14, in the multipurpose room.
The Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library are sponsors of this joyous occasion and are excited to introduce the new mascot, Ollie, as well as hold a very special Storytime, craft and a tasty treat for all to enjoy.
“During this first year we have learned a great deal and settled in nicely,” Library Assistant Director Claire Connley said. “We will celebrate the Library building’s birthday by welcoming our new mascot, Ollie, who was named by public vote. The Library is especially grateful to the Library Foundation and Friends of the Library for their support that has made this idea of a mascot become a reality.”
This is an important event because as of March 14, the Library has been in its new location for one year. Connley, who served as interim director a year ago and orchestrated the move from the old to the new, has witnessed the transformation of an empty shell to a gathering space for generations young and old.
“With the expansion of the building, the Library has been able to better serve the community, expand resources and move forward with its mission to make the Library a welcoming community gathering place, offering access to superior resources and enriching programs,” Connley said.
